Lack of Nuance navigates the space between sincerity and satire, intimacy and absurdity, through a sequence of poems that are by turns sharp and unexpectedly tender. Structured in three sections — Sufficient Nuance, Lack of Nuance, and Shore Cycle — the pamphlet begins with moments of quiet attention: waterfalls, feathered encounters, Sunday rain, and domestic rituals are observed with care. In the central section, the poems skewer the confessional style of Instagram poetry, and explore digital self-performance, from congealed honey, to public snogging under canine surveillance, to finding unlikely drama in a "Mum in a Dryrobe" surveying the working class like a local deity. The final section, Shore Cycle, offers a return to elemental rhythms, through coastal scenes tinged with reflection and subtle transformation. These poems question how — and why — we pay attention. Whether rooted in place, memory, or mischief, they remind us that nuance is both a gift and a gamble.
