Field Notes:
Literary Magazine

Field Notes is a literary magazine publishing contemporary poetry, literary fiction, and work that moves between forms. We feature essays, reviews, and original writing from a range of disciplines, with an interest in how literary practice thinks alongside the present—socially, culturally, and ecologically.

We are especially drawn to ecological writing and to the pastoral as a site of inquiry rather than nostalgia: landscapes shaped by labour and climate, rural and nonhuman spaces under pressure, and modes of attention that test how writing might register environmental change. We welcome hybrid and cross-genre work that brings critical and creative approaches into conversation, allowing form itself to carry argument, doubt, or discovery. Field Notes exists as a place for work that resists easy classification and values sustained engagement. We publish writing that asks what literature can do now—how it can observe, intervene, and imagine otherwise.
